In laboratoria worden repeterende handelingen uitgevoerd. Veel van de handelingen betreffen precisiewerk dat een fijne coördinatie vereist. Dat gaat gepaard met ingespannen werken, kleine spieren worden langdurig en intensief aangespannen. En dat soms in de gekste houdingen. Ook wordt langdurig staand of zittend werk verricht. In de praktijk zie je terug dat er laboratoriummedewerkers zijn die lichamelijke klachten krijgen en ziek worden van het werk.

De korte groepsgerichte variant vervangt Leefstijltraining III (van de Broek & Merkx, 2003) en bestaat uit zeven bijeenkomsten. In dit protocol komen dezelfde thema's aan bod als in de korte individuele variant. In tegenstelling tot de korte individuele variant komen de twee aanvullende vaardigheden aan bod tijdens de behandeling. De structuur van elke bijeenkomst is globaal hetzelfde en is gelijk aan die van de zittingen in de groepsgerichte standaardvariant. Elke bijeenkomst duurt twee uur.
