Gesitueerd in Vietnam, is dit het meeslepende verhaal van een familie die te maken krijgt met verlies, ontheemding, honger en angst, maar die ook de kracht heeft om verder te gaan, om gewoon door te gaan in een tijd waarin Vietnam verscheurd was door oorlogen, armoede en verdeeldheid . Koninklijk bloed kon hen niet beschermen tegen de onrust rondom hen, en zij waren niet rijk genoeg om een uitweg te kopen.

Gelukkig vonden zij op hun 'oude dag' vrede en tevredenheid.

Three themes are contained inside this book, knitted together by the overarching theme, Impressions. Impressions of writing, of reading, of nature and of personal things that are universal at the same time. Above all, it is a collection of poems, each one an impression by a poet, and of the poet herself.

Only man is capable of birth-control, both population growth and contraception. The explosive growth in population and famine on earth has led to the breeding of animals solely for consumption. Genocide, the accelerated extinction of species, and Ecocide, large environmental damage are the consequences. This process is self-ending .... and forces us to reconsider. Sooner or later in the 21st century the chimpanzee will die. Wild life conservation, restoring the amount of available wild fish...

A story about a lonesome Spice Grocer who gets the opportunity to go on a journey to find out about spices first hand. However once aboard and on his way, his ship gets attacked by pirates. Pirates who give him the choice to either die or become one of them. He chooses the latter and is now forced to sail the seas and it dangers with them. However the world of pirates is full of twists and he will find out where he starts he might not end up at.

Like most people, I go through changes and different paradigms in my life. It is dealing with these paradigms that seems the biggest challenge life has to throw at me. In the end I have no control over what happens to me, only what I can make happen. What I try to reach for in my poems, is the answer to the question: Why and how to live?
