Dit is een boekje met een keur aan verrassende kunstwerken, puttend uit de collectie van ongeveer 104.000 stuks van de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed. Elke afbeelding is voorzien van een origineel, anekdotisch commentaar. De tekst prikkelt en nodigt uit tot herhaald bekijken van het kunstwerk.

De keuze is een selectie uit de rubriek 'Kunstwerk van de maand', die onderzoeker/conservator Fransje Kuyvenhoven al enkele jaren schrijft op de website van de Rijksdienst.

Frans (1942-2015) en Marja (1941) de Boer Lichtveld bezochten in dezelfde tijd het Instituut voor Kunstnijverheids Onderwijs, de voorloper van de huidige Rietveldacademie in Amsterdam.

Aanvankelijk werkten zij als twee individuele kunstenaars. Niet veel later betrokken zij een voormalige school in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, waar zij een atelier deelden. Vanaf 1970 gingen zij nog een stap verder, zij werden een kunstenaarsduo en werkten voortaan samen aan dezelfde
