Fotograaf Anoek van Nunen stond op 12 maart 2020 klaar om de première van de nieuwe voorstelling trompettist Michael Varekamp te fotograferen, toen de coronamaatregelen bekend werden gemaakt. Het optreden werd gecanceld en de verslagenheid en ontreddering op het gezicht van de trompettist was duidelijk zichtbaar. Anoek dacht meteen: “dit moet ik vastleggen”.
Ze besloot artiesten te fotograferen in lege zalen, daar waar het optreden zou hebben plaatsgevonden, voordat het werd gecanceld....
