The huge open field, heaps of sand and gravel

The flat, irregular foundation lay in the middle of a lifeless lake

The entrance of the cluster of trees stood against the elements in the middle

The slowly rotting corpses of beauty

The desecrated ground and the murdered trees

Knowing one thing, seeing another

wild and yummy.

Mostly sweet,

sometimes with a taste of sour.

This story is about a rabbit,

the one that met a wolf.

A wolf that was searching

and craving for more.

But in this circus, we call life,

wolves can become princes,

magical tricks divine.

Rabbits can become ladies

and the prince calls you "mine".

This beautiful and diverse collection of poems touches the reader’s very soul. Inspired by the loss of a loved one, Maudy de Vreij put pen to paper and started writing down the words she couldn’t speak. As she explains, to her, poems are like lyrics without the music and she felt the urge to write down the songs she couldn’t find. These poems will bring the reader a laugh, a tear, and every other feeling associated with grief.
