Lauren MacCallum is an outdoor lover, TV presenter and general manager of a charity. Combined those take her to some of the best corners of the great wee country that is Scotland.

As a true local, Lauren wrote this guidebook to show you that Scotland is much more than the staged tourism of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. She aims to encourage you to explore beyond the usual hotspots, and to get to know the real Scotland. The book covers an eclectic range of over 60 themes such as unusual art spaces, gin and whisky distilleries worth a visit, amazing coastal walks, Instagram-worthy hang-outs, dramatic lochs, bookshops with character and much more.

These hidden gems were photographed by Sam Mellish, Roel Hendrickx and Grant Anderson. They all come from different places – Sam is based in London, Roel in Antwerp and Grant lives in Dundee – but all three are avid Scotland-travellers, with a passion for hiking and the jaw-dropping Scottish outdoors.
